WITH NATASHA HAESERTS
Natasha Haeserts for Annie Officiel
-
Originally born in London, UK I currently live in Antwerp, Belgium. I am of German, Belgian and Malaysian origin even though everyone says I look Russian (especially with a name like Natasha). I work in fashion sales for LOAVIES alongside being a mother of two under two!
-
How would you best describe your personal style?
I am most certainly a minimalist who tends to stick to very neutral tones and long pieces. My motto is the longer the better because you can always take off but you can never add! My go-to colour the last year has been dark chocolate brown, hence why I fell in love with my pieces from Annie Officiel! Every so often when I am feeling particularly daring I might go for a pop of colour and verge away from my usual ‘funeral looks’ as my husband likes to call it. Every piece I own tends to be long and drapes over my figure. I hope to be able to wear every piece into my old age as they’re all very modest and made of high quality fabrics.
-
What are your 3 favorite pieces in your wardrobe and why?
-
My absolute go-to in the winter is a divine dark chocolate brown shearling coat that was made by a friend of mine who up-cycles vintage shearling into modern designs (@upcycled_horovitz). It fits like a glove and goes with everything I own and is easily dressed up and down.

Another favourite piece is a beautiful The Row cardigan in shock horror, dark chocolate brown which almost grazes the floor. It envelopes me like a duvet without looking like a duvet and makes me feel like I can take on winter with absolute sartorial elegance!

My latest sheer silk kaftan from Annie Officiel is so trans-seasonal and versatile. I’ll be able to wear this during the summer and also in the winter with a turtleneck underneath.

Do you have any heirloom pieces or sentimental pieces?
-
I have some lovely jewellery that has been passed down through my family and some pieces of clothing that were left behind by my father. My favourite piece by far is a pinkie ring with bloodstone that has been passed down through the generations.
-
Talk us through your trip and the must-have pieces you packed?
-
So I’ve got this new rule of only bringing hand bagage on holiday so having these two dresses was so easy because they were literally all I brought and I used them for every occasion.
-
I wore my slip dress for the first night where we had a lovely dinner and then the Kaftan and the slip dress combined for the next day during the wedding ceremony! Luckily because both are made of the most luxurious silk they were ideal as it was quite hot.
-
Even when we travelled back to Rome for a day I combined my slip dress with a white t-shirt on top and made it into a super easy day time look. And luckily because of my Asian genes I can deal very well with the heat so was able to wear my beautiful silk pieces the whole time. I also leave my more delicate pieces out to air after I’ve worn them to maintain the fabric.
-
There was also a pool party where I of course wore my Kaftan onto of my bikini. Talk about versatile!
